According to the transactions page on Cubs.com, the White Sox claimed RHP Jacob Turner off of waivers from the Cubs. Turner had not been reinstated from the 60-day DL and did not count against the 40-man roster. The Cubs 40-man roster officially stands at 40 players. Cubs Shut Down RHP Jacob Turner

Theo Epstein announced Wednesday afternoon that RHP Jacob Turner has been shut down indefinitely. Turner was on a rehab assignment with Double-A Tennessee when his elbow flared up. Epstein did not say how long the Cubs think it will be before Turner is able to resume throwing. Jacob Turner made two starts for Double-A Tennessee. RHP Jacob Turner met with the media Friday morning. Turner confirmed he has a bruised bone and mild flexor strain in his right elbow. Turner received a second opinion on his elbow after tests by the Cubs’ medical staff revealed the injury earlier this week. The good news for Jacob Turner, there is not any damage to the ligament. Cubs Shut Down Jacob Turner with Flexor Strain and Bone Bruise in Right Elbow

According to multiple reports, the Cubs have shut down RHP Jacob Turner and he will begin the season on the disabled list. An MRI on Turner’s right elbow revealed a flexor strain and bone bruise but no ligament damage. The Cubs announced Saturday the team picked up the $1 million option on RHP Jacob Turner for the 2015 as expected. The Cubs claimed Jacob Turner off waivers from the Marlins in early August and worked out a deal that sent RHP Jose Arias and RHP Tyler Bremer to Miami for the former first round pick of the Tigers (2009). It was another good day on the mound for Jake Arrieta. But Friday meant a little more to Arrieta as he faced his former team. Arrieta took a perfect game into the fifth inning and limited the Orioles to one run on four hits with a walk in seven innings, plus he singled off Kevin Gausman. Jacob Turner is expected to report to the Cubs Sunday and once he officially arrives at Wrigley Field he will be placed on the active 25-man roster. Turner is out of minor league options and has already been added to the Cubs 40-man roster. Theo Epstein said Friday that Turner will pitch once he joins the team.
