The Iowa offense flexed some of its muscle with John Andreoli, Jeimer Candelario, Logan Watkins and Mark Zagunis leading the way. And South Bend continued to roll with Eloy Jimenez and Ian Rice. Center Field The front office made a good deal in the off-season, trading two unwanted players for a one-year rental in veteran Dexter Fowler. Cubs Added Quantity to the System with International Signings

Baseball America posted its annual review of the players the Cubs signed on the International amateur market this past year. According to Baseball America, the Cubs added 47 players to the organization and were aggressive signing players in the $100-250,000 range. The Cubs were restricted to signing a player for more than $250,000 due to the penalty the team received for flying past its International signing bonus pool during the 2013-14 signing period. Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday that RHP Jason Motte passed his physical and his one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Cubs was done. Motte’s contract includes a $2.5 million incentives package based on games finished. The Cubs have not announced signing Jason Motte and will have to open a spot on the 40-man roster in order to officially add Motte.
