Mesa Approves Construction of Hotel in Wrigleyville West Near Cubs Park

Prior to the holidays the Cubs received unanimous approval from the Mesa City Council to build a Sheraton Hotel on the Wrigleyville West site next to Cubs Park. According to multiple reports, East Valley hotelier Bob Yost will construct a full service hotel that includes 175 rooms and a 12,000 square-foot conference center. The first pitch of the Cubs' 2011 Cactus League Schedule is four days away ... Tuesday was photo day at Fitch Park as Q's crew prepares for the start of the exhibition season. Cubs Will Keep Spring Training Home in Mesa

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, the Cubs officially announced they will keep their Spring Training home in Mesa, Arizona. The announcement on Wednesday begins an exclusive negotiating period with the city that could take as long as a year to finalize. Mesa City Council Approves Cubs New Spring Training Complex

According to multiple reports Monday night, the Mesa City Council approved "its proposal to spend $84 million for a new spring training complex for the Cubs and is now awaiting official word from the team, which is expected within days."
