Historic Wrigley Field Marquee Installed Wednesday As scheduled, the Wrigley Field Marquee was re-installed Wednesday and is back in place well in time for the home opener on Monday, April 11 against the Reds. Wrigley Field Restoration Update: Landmarks Commission Approves Marquee Renovation
The Cubs received permission, with one condition, from the Landmarks Commission on Thursday to move forward with the changes and restoration of Wrigley Field’s iconic marquee. The fourth management session Saturday at the Cubs Convention was with Crane Kenney and the Business Operations Department. Crane Kenney provided updates on the business side of the team and was joined by Carl Rice, Alison Miller, Colin Faulkner and Alex Sugarman when he opened up the session for questions. Phase Two of The 1060 Project was delayed a couple of weeks with the Cubs playing deep into October for the first time in seven years. The ownership and front office obviously welcomed the delay and would have preferred the project was put on hold even further this off-season. Phase One received rave reviews. Wrigley Field Restoration Update: Federal Judge Grants Rooftops Request to Drop Lawsuit Against City
According to a report from the Tribune, a federal judge granted a request last week by the Wrigleyville Rooftop Association to drop the lawsuit filed against the city and the Landmarks Commission that “sought to throw out the panel’s decision allowing the Cubs to install its outfield signs.” Skybox on Sheffield and Lakeview Baseball Club did not provide a reason for the request for dismissal. According to a report from the Tribune, U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall “denied a request by two nearby rooftop businesses for the Cubs to stop installation of their right field video board” on Thursday afternoon. Wrigleyville Rooftop Owner Indicted on Fraud Charges
The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Friday morning federal fraud charges had been filed against Marc Hamid, owner of Skybox on Sheffield, for “under-reporting attendance and revenue” between 2008 and 2011.
