Cubs Release Spring Training Broadcast Schedule

The Cubs released the broadcast schedule for the upcoming exhibition season. Updated 12:29am CST, Feb. 19 – According to ESPN Chicago, MLB Network will broadcast three Cubs’ Spring Training games: March 11 vs. Dodgers at Sloan Park, March 16 vs. Reds at Sloan Park and April 3 vs. Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Cubs Release 2014 Spring Training Schedule

The Cubs released their 2014 Spring Training schedule on Monday. As reported, the Cubs will face the Arizona Diamondbacks in their Cactus League opener on Feb. 27 in the first game at 'Cubs Park', their new Spring Training home in Mesa. The Cubs make their annual trip to Las Vegas (March 15, March 16) to take on the New York Mets at Cashman Field. Less than 36 hours prior to Turkey Day (insert Cubs jokes here), the rumors surrounding the Chicago Cubs picked up when Lance Berkman told Ken Rosenthal that the Cubs have called his agent. Berkman said the A's have been the most aggressive but the "Cubs have checked in, informing him of their opening at first base." Mike Quade joined Jim Duquette and Kevin Kennedy during Power Alley (XM Radio/MLB Network Radio) Friday. Quade discussed several topics, including changes that will take place in his first Spring Training as the Cubs skipper. Cubs Will Keep Spring Training Home in Mesa

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, the Cubs officially announced they will keep their Spring Training home in Mesa, Arizona. The announcement on Wednesday begins an exclusive negotiating period with the city that could take as long as a year to finalize. Mesa City Council Approves Cubs New Spring Training Complex

According to multiple reports Monday night, the Mesa City Council approved "its proposal to spend $84 million for a new spring training complex for the Cubs and is now awaiting official word from the team, which is expected within days." It appears the reports on Thursday from Dave Kaplan and the Chicago Tribune jumped the gun about the Cubs reaching a tentative deal to stay in Mesa, Arizona. According to a report from Dave Kaplan, the Cubs have decided to keep their Spring Training home and facilities in Mesa, Arizona.
