Cubs Added Quantity to the System with International Signings
Baseball America posted its annual review of the players the Cubs signed on the International amateur market this past year. According to Baseball America, the Cubs added 47 players to the organization and were aggressive signing players in the $100-250,000 range. The Cubs were restricted to signing a player for more than $250,000 due to the penalty the team received for flying past its International signing bonus pool during the 2013-14 signing period. The Daily CCO: Jason Motte Says Hello to Cubs Fans and Other News, Notes and Rumors
Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday that RHP Jason Motte passed his physical and his one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Cubs was done. Motte’s contract includes a $2.5 million incentives package based on games finished. The Cubs have not announced signing Jason Motte and will have to open a spot on the 40-man roster in order to officially add Motte.
