Joe Nathan Added to List of Veteran Relievers in Cubs Organization
The Cubs added veteran closer Joe Nathan to the mix Tuesday on a guaranteed one-year Major League contract, and placed him on the 60-day DL. Nathan is recovering from his second Tommy John surgery (April, 2015) and is not expected to be ready until at least July 1. LHP Manny Parra announced on his Twitter account April 9 that he had season-ending Tommy John surgery. The Cubs officially placed him on the minor league 60-day DL and he will spend the year rehabbing from elbow surgery. The Cubs signed Manny Parra to a minor league contract in late February that included a non-roster invite to Spring Training. Parra threw the ball well after reporting to camp.
