Bijan Rademacher Added to MLB Pipeline’s Top 20 Cubs Prospect List
MLB.com updated its ranking of the top 20 Cubs prospects after the trade with Atlanta that sent RHP Arodys Vizcaino back to the Braves for INF Tommy La Stella. Baseball America released its ranking of the top 20 prospects of the 2014 season in the Midwest League. And the Cubs Low-A roster placed only one player in the top 20, RHP Duane Underwood. With the promotion of INF Javier Baez, the Cubs have a new top five and LHP Carson Sands was added to the backend of MLB Pipeline’s ranking. An 829-game minor league regular season ended Monday with three teams from the Cubs’ system making the playoffs: The Daytona Cubs, the Kane County Cougars, and the Boise Hawks. With the Cubs graduating players from the system to the Major Leagues, MLB Pipeline recently posted another update to its top 20 Cubs prospect list. RHP Jefferson Mejia replaced Kyle Hendricks in the top 20. MLB Pipeline considered Hendricks the 18th best prospect in the Cubs system prior to his promotion. MLB Pipeline updated its list of the top 20 prospects in the Cubs system after the non-waiver trade deadline. The Cubs added a very good catching prospect to the system in Victor Caratini from the Braves for INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio and LHP James Russell.
