The Cubs reportedly agreed to terms on contracts with Jason Hammel and James McDonald last Friday with both deals not expected to be announced until the pitchers passed physicals. The Cubs have not made either signing official yet and will have to make a 40-man roster move before announcing Hammel’s one-year contract. The Cubs crossed another task from their off-season to-do list Friday when they agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Matt Garza. The Cubs and Garza avoided arbitration just before his scheduled hearing in St. Petersburg. Garza had filed a $12.5 million salary arbitration number and the Cubs offered $7.95 million. Lou Piniella and Jim Hendry have decisions to make over the next 13 days ... the Cubs still have 40 players on their Spring Training roster. The Cubs 'officially' got to work on Day Two of Camp Lou IV. The rest of the pitchers, and a few notable position players, joined the early arrivals to camp for the first full day of workouts at Fitch Park. Cubs Not Thrilled with Ryan Theriot

The Chicago Cubs and Ryan Theriot appear headed for arbitration. The two sides have not budged on the numbers submitted last month. Theriot submitted a $3.4 million figure and the Cubs offered $2.6 million. Ryan Theriot is not backing down.
