Josh Vitters and Starlin Castro were named to the roster for the upcoming XM Radio Futures Game during All-Star weekend in St. Louis on Thursday. The Cubs made a notable roster move on Thursday. John Gaub was promoted to Triple-A Iowa and many think he could be with the big league club in the second half. The … [Read more...]

Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 06/15/09
Here is your end of the week update from our Young Cubs. There was some interesting movement in the transaction log this week. Brandon Guyer couldn't hit his weight at Tennessee so he got sent down to Daytona while Todd Blackford was throwing so poorly in Tennessee that I was surprised that Daytona was as far as he was demoted. Doug Deeds getting demoted to Tennessee was a little surprising, but I think it was more of a numbers situation than anything else; Jake Fox returned this week to … [Read more...]
Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 06/08/09
Here is your end of the week update for our Young Cubs. Tyler Colvin has been doing well for Tennessee since his call up (hitting .316 in 8 games) and the Smokies finally ended their losing streak. They now have a three-game winning streak and hopefully the entire team is done being in an offensive slump. The Chiefs also had a winning streak this week that ran all the way up to six games. So if there is one thing that could be said about the Cubs and their minor league system it is that they … [Read more...]
Cubs Down of the Farm Report – 06/04/09
Here is your mid-week update for our Young Cubs. Unlike last week, this week has been very calm and the offenses of pretty much all the teams have been quiet. The Smokies have now lost 11 in a row and they are quickly falling way out of contention at 9.5 games back. Tony Thomas has seen his average fall over 70 points in just the past two weeks, but pretty much everyone in Tennessee has stopped hitting of late. Don't forget that you can check out my site at YoungCubsWorld.com for daily updates … [Read more...]

If you check out the transaction log you will see that Tyler Colvin was called up to Tennessee from Daytona on Sunday. Andrew Cashner started Sunday and went four innings without giving up a run...Cashner walked just one, so his control has been greatly improved over the past two starts. The Smokies had the worst end of the week of … [Read more...]
Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 05/25/09
Here is your end of the week update from the Cubs' Minor League System. Josh Vitters has stayed hot and has homered in three of his four games this weekend...that is a total of 10 so far for the Chiefs this season. Daytona has not played a game since Tuesday, May 19 due to rainy weather. The Smokies and I-Cubs are very close to leading their division and the Chiefs are right there as well, but Daytona is going to have to play some games before they can start making up the deficit they are … [Read more...]
Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 05/21/09
Here is your mid-week update for our Young Cubs. It has been a pretty eventful beginning to week for first round picks. Josh Vitters (1st round pick 2007 Draft) is on a streak of historical proportions; he had at least three hits in five straight games and he homered in his last four before Wednesday. The names in this article put our top prospect in some pretty impressive company. Andrew Cashner (1st round pick from 2008 Draft) got another start for Daytona and Monday and pitched two innings … [Read more...]
