The Cubs announced the managers and coaching staff Wednesday for each of its minor league affiliates and the organization’s minor league coordinators for the 2015 season. It was “Promotion Day” Wednesday as several prospects received word that they would be moving up a level. There was some activity leading up to the day, as RHP Juan Carlos Paniagua was promoted to Daytona, while RHP Ben Wells went to Kane County and RHP Dillon Maples reported to Boise. The Cubs announced the coaching staffs for all minor league levels and field coordinators on Wednesday. There was very little turnover or changes made to the coaching staffs that were in the Cubs' system a year ago with the exception of the pitching coaches. Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 08/19/13
The Cubs’ affiliates had a decent end of the week. Boise pulled to within a game of first place with help from Carlos Penalver. Kane County posted a couple of wins, while Iowa received an excellent spot start from Casey Coleman. Tennessee kept its grip on first place thanks to Javier Baez and two game winning home runs. It was reported that sportswriter Ring Lardner would sing “I’m forever blowing ballgames” to the “Black Sox” during the storied World Series. That seemed to be an appropriate tune with the way the week ended down on the farm as losing leads ran rampant through the organization. Boise was powered by Yasiel Balaguert and Kevin Encarnacion as they went 2-2 to close out the week.
