Keith Law's week long look at the minor league system continued Wednesday morning with his list of the top 100 prospects in the game and to no surprise the Twins' Byron Buxton topped his ranking. Keith Law Ranks Cubs System Fourth Best in Baseball
The Cubs farm system received more accolades on Tuesday morning when Keith Law released his ranking of the 30 farm systems. Baseball Prospectus recently placed the Cubs behind the Twins and ahead of the Pirates for the second best system in the game. Keith Law thinks the Cubs have the fourth best system in baseball behind the Astros, Twins and Pirates and ahead of the Red Sox. Baseball America’s Top 30 Cubs’ Prospects
Baseball America's 2009 Prospect Handbook made its way to the bookshelves last week. After spending the off-season tracking the different publications and their thoughts on the Cubs' minor league system, the industry standard put their final stamp on the top prospects of the Cubs' organization leading into Spring Training. Minor League Report – 04/18/08
The Iowa Cubs had a better week and so did the Tennessee Smokies. The Daytona Cubs lost three in a row before beating the Palm Beach Cardinals in 10 innings on Thursday, 1-0. Sean Gallagher had a good week, despite losing on Thursday night to New Orleans, 5-1. Gallagher gave up 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 2/3 innings. With a little less than three weeks before pitchers and catchers report on February 13th, Jim Hendry told the Tribune he is not done with his roster. There are additions the Cubs would like to make before Spring Training according to statements made by Hendry over the last week.
