Cubs sign 32 selections from 2018 First-Year Player Draft The Cubs announced the organization has signed 32 selections from the 2018 First-Year Player Draft ahead of Friday’s deadline, including each of their first 20 picks. Cubs to Pick 28th in 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft

The years of the Cubs selecting at the top of the draft and having a protected pick are likely over. The Cubs plan on competing for a division title and playing in October every season. The Cubs finished the 2015 regular season with the third best record in baseball (97-65). Cubs Sign 35th Round Pick LHP Jordan Minch

The Cubs announced the signing of LHP Jordan Minch, the team’s 35th round pick in last month’s draft, prior to Friday’s deadline. According to reports, Minch signed a $110,000 bonus. The additional $10,000 counts against the Cubs bonus pool for the 2014 draft. Plus, the Cubs agreed to pay for the completion of his undergraduate degree. Here is your mid-week update for our Young Cubs. I am going to pass on just brief recaps of the games this week and I will focus more on 2009 Draft this week. On Tuesday Major League Baseball had three rounds of picks as well as a compensatory round of picks for teams that lost Type A and Type B Free Agents. Looking Back at the Rule 4 Draft

The 2008 First-Year Player Draft was conducted on June 5th and June 6th. The Cubs drafted 51 players, 28 pitchers, 12 infielders, 8 outfielders and 3 catchers. A couple of names that jump out of the long list include Michael Brenly, son of Bob Brenly, and Chicago area prospects David Cales and Anthony Zych....as well as Sonny Gray.
