Cubs Draft Update: Baseball America and MLB Pipeline Mock Drafts

While the front office continues to look for ways to improve the big league roster, a majority of the focus for the Chicago Cubs will shift to the First-Year Player Draft that begins in eight days (June 8-10). There still does not appear to be a clear cut No. 1 pick with the draft just eight days away. Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft is less than two weeks away (June 8-10). And it is shaping up to be a very interesting draft because there does not appear to be a clear cut No. 1 pick. Baseball America’s Third Mock Draft Has Cubs Selecting RHP Jon Harris

John Manuel released his third mock draft Friday and for the second time in three mock drafts he sees the Cubs taking a college arm in the first round. Manuel thinks the Cubs will take right-hander Jon Harris from Missouri State. Manuel had the Cubs taking Vanderbilt right-hander Carson Fulmer in his first mock draft. The weekend in Milwaukee didn’t exactly go as the Cubs had hoped. After winning Friday and taking the first game, the Cubs were blown out Saturday night and lost in 11 innings on Sunday. Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft is less than a month away (June 8-10). The Cubs have the ninth pick in the first round of this year’s draft.
