It was a pretty good start to the week for some pitchers from the 2014 draft class. Lefty Tommy Thorpe is not thriving in the rotation for South Bend, while Brad Markey was blowing hitters away for Myrtle Beach. Austyn Willis also had a good outing for the AZL Cubs, and Ryan Williams kept rolling for Tennessee. Denard Span, Coco Crisp on Cubs Radar?
Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer would like to acquire a left-handed hitting centerfielder that can hit at the top of the lineup. The Cubs have not ruled out beginning the season with Arismendy Alcantara as the starting centerfielder. Cubs Not Alone in Pursuit of Depth in the Outfield
After the additions of Jon Lester and David Ross to the roster, the front office was supposed to shift its focus to adding depth to the outfield. The Daily CCO: Rumors Dominate the News During Day Two of the GM Meetings
Before reports hit the wire the Cubs were in talks with the Nationals for Jordan Zimmermann and working on a deal with Justin Masterson, rumors continued to swirl around the Chicago Cubs at the GM Meetings. Jed Hoyer provided an update Tuesday on Starlin Castro and according to a report from Patrick Mooney, Castro has recovered from his season-ending ankle injury.
