On a Saturday afternoon with Bob Costas calling the game for NBC, Ryne Sandberg cemented himself in the storied history of the Chicago Cubs with one of the greatest games in franchise history. Harry Caray referred to it as the "unofficial opening day", some refer to it as the "kick-off to spring training", call it what you want but the bottom line is baseball is just around the corner. 2012 Cubs Convention Schedule and Attendees

The schedule for the 27th Annual Cubs Convention was released Sunday night and Monday morning. The three-day event begins Friday afternoon at the Hilton Chicago. The Cubs' new front office will be in attendance and the Saturday morning session with Theo Epstein figures to have the biggest crowd of the weekend. The 27th Annual Cubs Convention kicks off next Friday at the Chicago Hilton and some of the details were released on Thursday. This year's convention will feature a lot of new faces ... both in terms of the front office, the coaching staff and the players. Dale Sveum's coaching staff is beginning to take shape. According to a report from the Sun-Times, Dale Sveum has decided to keep Rudy Jaramillo for the final year of the three-year, $2.42 million contract he signed with the Cubs in October of 2009. Jaramillo said he was happy to be back with the Cubs and on Sveum's staff. The 52nd manager of the Chicago Cubs will be introduced at a 9:00am CT press conference on Friday at Wrigley Field. Friday was reporting day for the Cubs position players. Alfonso Soriano, Kosuke Fukudome and Luis Montanez made their way to Fitch Park ... but two thirds of the 'Three Amigos' did not report.
