Cubs announce Minor League Managers, Coaching Staffs and Field Coordinators for the 2017 season The Cubs announced Friday the organization’s minor league managers, coaching staffs and field coordinators for the 2017 season. Minor League Baseball announced Monday C/INF Ben Carhart was the Carolina League Player of the Week (Aug. 17-23). Ben Carhart was 7-for-14 with three home runs and two walks. Carhart drove in eight runs, scored five runs and finished the week with a .500/.529/1.143 slash line. Carhart had a 1.672 OPS. With pennant races for the Cubs organization extending down throughout the minor leagues, the balls are now flying out of the park. With the end of the season just weeks away, several of the Cubs’ affiliates are trending in the right direction. Iowa is four games out of first place as Felipe Paulino and Carlos Pimentel pitched back-to-back gems. The Cubs’ minor league system ended the month of May with a mixed bag as South Bend saw the blossoming of Yasiel Balaguert. Myrtle Beach have their own emerging stars in Jeimer Candelario and Chesny Young, while Willson Contreras is stepping into the spotlight in Tennessee.
