May 13, 2013 12:20 am By Tom U. 6 Comments

Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 05/13/13 Signs that thing are starting to change in the minors arose at the end of the week as several players were promoted and traded. Kane County is starting to live up to some of their pre-season hype, due in large part to a nine-game hitting streak by Bijan Rademacher. Daytona had to battle weather conditions, but Jorge Soler seems to be heating up at the plate. The fortunes of Tennessee were starting to look bleak until a rehab start by Matt Garza. As for … [Read more...]

Garza was not as sharp as he was in his previous start last Monday for Iowa but he was able to get his work in and is scheduled to pitch in the coming week for the I-Cubs. In what can be considered an inconsistent end to this past week, highlighting the consistencies seems to put a positive foot forward. Kane County has been able to rely on players like Rock Shoulders and Bijan Rademacher. Outfielder John Andreoli and infielder Dustin Geiger have been rocks in the line-up for Daytona. Jae-Hoon Ha and Rubi Silva have been the go-to performers for Tennessee, while Brian Bogusevic and Ryan Sweeney have been persistent threats for Iowa. To find out how they all did, … [Read more...]

April 25, 2013 12:20 am By Tom U. 26 Comments

Iowa and Daytona continued their season long struggles this week in Memphis and against Dunedin respectively. But both teams saw glimmers of hope from pitcher Brooks Raley and infielder Tim Saunders. Kane County evened their record by splitting a pair with Peoria. Pin-Cheih Chen started to heat up and Dan Vogelbach has remained steady. However, Tennessee was stung a couple of times as some of their top rated talent failed to produce. All this, and more, in today’s addition of Down on the Farm. … [Read more...]

Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 04/18/13

April 18, 2013 12:20 am By Tom U. 2 Comments

The horrid Midwest weather has played havoc with the schedule for Kane County, as it was only dry enough for them to split a doubleheader. Daytona evened their record thanks to the bats of John Andreoli and Stephen Bruno. The two hottest players in the Cubs’ minor leagues are Jae-Hoon Ha and Rubi Silva, with Tennessee also at .500. Meanwhile, Iowa was able to add two wins to their total on strong pitching performances from Chris Rusin and Brooks Raley. … [Read more...]

Poor weather has played havoc with all of baseball this spring, as postponements and hostile conditions have had their effect, even in the minor leagues. The conditions aren’t the only thing that was hostile this week, as tempers flared in Daytona, resulting in an ejections and suspensions.
