All eyes seems to have turn to Daytona at the start of the week as Javier Baez looked to claim his spot as the top prospect in the system with a four home run night. From top to bottom, the Cubs’ affiliates experienced an interesting end to the week. Not only did Junior Lake make his Triple-A debut on Thursday but Iowa split their four games thanks to a three-home run game from Ian Stewart. Tennessee went into a tailspin and lost four straight. Daytona was limited to one game due to a tropical storm, and Kane County took three out of four as the bats of Jeimer Candelario and Albert Almora led the way. The Cubs made three roster moves on Thursday morning. The Cubs purchased the contract of RHP Zach Putnam from Triple-A Iowa, added him to the 40-man roster and called him up from Triple-A Iowa.
