Cubs and WGN-TV Announce Five-Year Broadcast Agreement to Televise 45 Games Beginning in 2015
The Chicago Cubs and WGN-TV announced a five-year agreement Thursday to televise 45 games per year through the 2019 season. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Beginning with the 2015 season, 45 games return to WGN-TV Ch.9, not WGN America, and reportedly the contract includes opt-out clauses. According to reports from Bruce Levine, Patrick Mooney and Carrie Muskat, the Cubs are set to announce a new five-year contract with WGN-TV. The games will only be available on WGN Ch.9 in the Chicagoland area. The Chicago Cubs and ABC-7/WLS-TV made it official and announced a television partnership Friday morning that runs through the 2019 season.
