October 21, 2015 11:55 pm By Neil 20 Comments

National League Championship Series Game 4 – Cubs 3, Mets 8 WP – Bartolo Colon (1-0) LP – Jason Hammel (0-1) Save – None The Cubs season came to an end Wednesday night as the Mets completed the four-game sweep of the NLCS and advanced to the World Series. The Cubs were unable to slow down the Mets. By the time the Cubs recorded their first hit, the Mets already had a 6-0 lead. The Metropolitans cruised to a series victory and to the first National League Pennant since 2000. The Mets … [Read more...]

Cubs Lineup for Game 4 of NLCS

October 21, 2015 2:50 pm By Neil 16 Comments

Joe Maddon posted his lineup for Game 4 of the NLCS. And there are several changes to the starting nine. Maddon is sticking with Jason Hammel as his starting pitcher as he said he would. Hammel will be on a short leash. With Hammel going in Game 4 if the Cubs are able to send the series to a Game 5, Jon Lester will be pitching on regular rest against Matt Harvey. David Ross is behind the plate, not Miguel Montero, with the lefty Steven Matz on the hill, plus the Cubs must control the Mets … [Read more...]

The Daily CCO: Cubs Just Have to Show Up and Win

October 21, 2015 9:00 am By Neil 22 Comments

The Cubs are on the brink of elimination from the postseason after Tuesday’s loss in Game 3. It’s easy to say, but the Cubs just have to keep playing baseball. This team hasn’t quit all season and had the right perspective following Tuesday’s game. The Cubs are focused on winning Wednesday and extending the series. Anthony Rizzo pointed out, “One New York team’s blown a 3-0 lead. Let’s try to make it another New York team.” Theo Epstein addressed his team’s 3-0 hole to the Mets and the … [Read more...]

Too Many Mistakes, Cubs Give the Mets Game 3 of the NLCS – Mets 5, Cubs 2

October 20, 2015 11:45 pm By Neil 29 Comments

National League Championship Series Game 3 – Cubs 2, Mets 5 WP – Jacob deGrom (1-0) LP – Trevor Cahill (0-1) Save – Jeurys Familia (3) The Cubs defensive issues caught up with them Tuesday night and it cost them Game 3 of the National League Championship Series. The Cubs gave the Mets too many outs in the sixth and seventh innings that led to three runs and ended up being the difference in the game. The Cubs were only charged with one error but it was the mistakes that do not show up in … [Read more...]

The Daily CCO: Cubs Down, But Not Out and Other News

October 19, 2015 9:45 am By Neil 39 Comments

The Cubs are down 0-2 in the NLCS after Sunday’s disappointing loss. The Cubs have a chance to regroup Monday before Game 3 on Tuesday at Wrigley. This team has not gone away quietly all season and won’t start now. Absolutely nothing went the Cubs way for two days in New York. While the Mets hear how wonderful they are and Daniel Murphy is ridiculously compared to Reggie Jackson, the Cubs realize they have work to do and the series is long from over. Several of the players addressed the … [Read more...]

The Daily CCO: Cubs Not Panicking after One Game

October 18, 2015 3:45 am By Neil 21 Comments

Game 1 of the NLCS did not go the Cubs way. Jon Lester had a bad night and admitted he let his teammates down. When the Cubs were able to square up Matt Harvey the ball was hit right at a fielder while the ball seemed to drop in every time the Mets put it in play. As was the case in the NLDS, a series is more than one game. If the Cubs can win Game 2 behind Jake Arrieta and fly back to Chicago with the best of seven series tied at one it will be considered a good trip to New York. The Cubs … [Read more...]
