Joe Maddon posted his lineup for Game 4 of the NLCS. And there are several changes to the starting nine. Maddon is sticking with Jason Hammel as his starting pitcher as he said he would. Hammel will be on a short leash. With Hammel going in Game 4 if the Cubs are able to send the series to a Game 5, Jon Lester will be pitching on regular rest against Matt Harvey. David Ross is behind the plate, not Miguel Montero, with the lefty Steven Matz on the hill, plus the Cubs must control the Mets … [Read more...]
The Daily CCO: Cubs Just Have to Show Up and Win
The Cubs are on the brink of elimination from the postseason after Tuesday’s loss in Game 3. It’s easy to say, but the Cubs just have to keep playing baseball. The Cubs are down 0-2 in the NLCS after Sunday’s disappointing loss. The Cubs have a chance to regroup Monday before Game 3 on Tuesday at Wrigley. This team has not gone away quietly all season and won’t start now. Absolutely nothing went the Cubs way for two days in New York. While the Mets hear how wonderful they are and Daniel Murphy is ridiculously compared to Reggie Jackson, the Cubs realize they have work to do and the series is long from over. As was the case in the NLDS, a series is more than one game. If the Cubs can win Game 2 behind Jake Arrieta and fly back to Chicago with the best of seven series tied at one it will be considered a good trip to New York. The Cubs … [Read more...]
