The Cubs’ long and eventful off-season officially comes to an end today as pitchers and catchers report to the team’s facility in Mesa. And the coaching staff and players will start preparing for the most anticipated season this decade. Kris Bryant, Addison Russell among 19 Players Receiving Non-Roster Invites to Cubs Spring Training

The Cubs announced the list of players the team invited to Major League Spring Training on non-roster invitations. The Cubs invited 19 players that include seven of the top prospects from the minor league system. Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber and Albert Almora received NRIs to big league camp along with Pierce Johnson, Corey Black and Armando Rivero. Cubs Release Spring Training Broadcast Schedule

The Cubs released the broadcast schedule for the upcoming exhibition season. Updated 12:29am CST, Feb. 19 – According to ESPN Chicago, MLB Network will broadcast three Cubs’ Spring Training games: March 11 vs. Dodgers at Sloan Park, March 16 vs. Reds at Sloan Park and April 3 vs. Diamondbacks at Chase Field. The Cubs announced Thursday single-game tickets for Spring Training home games at Sloan Park go on-sale Saturday, Jan. 10 at 11:00am CST (10:00am MT). The Cubs open the 2015 exhibition season with a pair of games against the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants on Thursday, March 5. Cubs to End 2015 Spring Training with a Pair of Exhibition Games at Chase Field

The Cubs will wrap-up the 2015 exhibition season with two games against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. The Cubs added the two dates, April 3-4, Tuesday and have all but finalized the Spring Training schedule. The two games at Chase Field will be Friday, April 3 (8:40pm CDT) and Saturday, April 4 (3:10pm CDT). Trip to Las Vegas Added to Cubs Spring Schedule

The Cubs confirmed Friday a split-squad will spend a weekend in Las Vegas this spring. As reported by the Tribune, half of the roster and coaching staff will make the Cubs annual trek to Las Vegas in March and participate in ‘Big League Weekend’ at Cashman Field. Jon Lester’s free agent tour continued Thursday with a stop in Atlanta and a meeting with the Braves. According to report from David O’Brien, Jon Lester had lunch met with the Braves’ brass. Atlanta looked into trading for Lester at the deadline last July and scouted him extensively according to Gordon Edes before he was shipped to Oakland. Cubs Release Tentative 2015 Spring Training Schedule

The Cubs announced a tentative 2015 Spring Training schedule Wednesday. The team could still add exhibition games to the spring slate that begins on March 5 with split squad games against the A’s at Cubs Park and in Scottsdale against the Giants. As the schedule is currently composed, the Cubs play 29 games in the Cactus League with only two split squad games (March 5, March 28) and without a trip to Las Vegas for Big League Weekend at Cashman Field for the first time since 2004.
