Yu Darvish to begin rehab stint at South Bend on Monday
According to multiple reports, Yu Darvish will make a rehab start with the South Bend Cubs, the organization’s Low-A affiliate, on Monday.
Darvish has been on the 10-day disabled list since May 26, retroactive to May 23, with right triceps tendonitis.
Darvish is in the first season of a six-year contract he signed with the Cubs. Darvish has struggled, when he has not been on the DL. And he leads the list of players that must start performing in order for the Cubs to reach the team’s goal for the season.
Darvish has made only eight starts and is 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Darvish has allowed 24 runs, 22 earned, on 36 hits with 21 walks and 49 strikeouts.
Darvish has not pitched in a game at Wrigley since May 2.
