Cubs place RHP Yu Darvish on 10-day disabled list with flu-like symptoms
The Cubs made a surprise announcement just prior to the first pitch of Monday night’s game. Right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 4, with parainfluenza virus.
The Cubs have not announced a starter for Tuesday night’s game. Darvish was scheduled to pitch game two of the Marlins series. The official announcement will be made Tuesday. But RHP Jen-Ho Tseng was scratched from his start on Monday night with the Iowa Cubs … a likely replacement for Darvish on Tuesday.
Darvish has struggled in his first six starts with the Cubs. Darvish is 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. In just 30 innings, Darvish has allowed 22 runs, 20 earned, on 31 hits with 16 walks and 37 strikeouts.
