Cubs beginning 2018 campaign with 12 position players and 13 pitchers
On the eve of Opening Day, the Cubs have reportedly set the first 25-man roster of the season.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Sahadev Sharma, RHP Pedro Strop will begin the year on the active roster and not the disabled list. RHP Eddie Butler, as expected, will take the last spot in Joe Maddon’s pen. Butler is out of options and was expected to make the team out of Spring Training.
RHP Anthony Bass and RHP Justin Hancock, who were both with the Cubs this spring on non-roster invites, will begin the season with Triple-A Iowa.
