Cubs announce National League Division Series Roster … Rotation and start times set for the Best-of-Five Series with Nationals

The Cubs have set their 25-man roster in advance of the start of their National League Division Series on Friday night against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park.

The Cubs and Nationals play the first two games of the National League Division Series Friday and Saturday night in Washington D.C. before the series moves to Chicago for Game Three on Monday, Oct. 9 and Game Four (if necessary) on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The clubs would return to Nationals Park for Game 5 (if necessary) on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Here is the Chicago Cubs National League Division Series roster:

Pitchers (11)
  • Carl Edwards Jr., RHP
  • Kyle Hendricks, RHP
  • Brian Duensing, LHP
  • Jon Lester, LHP
  • Justin Wilson, LHP
  • John Lackey, RHP
  • Mike Montgomery, LHP
  • Pedro Strop, RHP
  • Jose Quintana, LHP
  • Jake Arrieta, RHP
  • Wade Davis, RHP
Position Players (14)
  • Tommy La Stella, INF
  • Albert Almora Jr., OF
  • Javier Baez, INF
  • Kyle Schwarber, OF
  • Alex Avila, C
  • Kris Bryant, INF
  • Ian Happ, OF/INF
  • Leonys Martin, OF
  • Ben Zobrist, OF/INF
  • Addison Russell, INF
  • Jon Jay, OF
  • Jason Heyward, OF
  • Anthony Rizzo, INF
  • Willson Contreras, C
Cubs NLDS Rotation
  • Game 1 – Kyle Hendricks
  • Game 2 – Jon Lester
  • Game 3 – Jose Quintana
  • Game 4 – Jake Arrieta
National League Division Series Schedule
  • Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 6, 6:31pm CDT at Nationals Park
  • Game 2 – Saturday, Oct. 7, 4:38pm CDT at Nationals Park
  • Game 3 – Monday, Oct. 9, 3:08pm CDT at Wrigley Field
  • Game 4 – Tuesday, Oct. 10, 4:38pm CDT at Wrigley Field
  • Game 5 – Thursday, Oct. 12, 4:38pm CDT or 7:08pm CDT if only one NL game

The Cubs are underdogs in the series against the high-powered, very talented Washington Nationals team that is managed by Dusty Baker. Joe Maddon’s team will have to play mistake free ball and take advantage of all scoring opportunities to beat the Nationals and advance to the NLCS for the third year in a row.

First thing is first … and it’s time for the Cubs to play good, fundamental baseball and beat the Nats.
