Thank You, Dex

Dexter Fowler will always be part of the Cubs. He is entrenched in Cubs’ history. And for that reason, it seems like the appropriate time to say ‘Thank You’ to Dexter Fowler for what he helped the Cubs accomplish … A World Series Championship.

Fowler090916Fowler had the best two years of his career with the Cubs. At the top of Joe Maddon’s lineup, Fowler gave the Cubs the leadoff hitter the team needed. ‘You go, we go’ and Fowler made the Cubs go. Over the last two seasons the Cubs won 200 games, a NL Central Division title, an NL Pennant and a World Series Trophy.

During his two years with the Cubs, Fowler hit .261/.367/.427 with 54 doubles, 15 triples and 30 home runs for a .794 OPS. And his career-year ended with leading off Game 7 of The World Series with a home run.

Fowler signed with the Cardinals and was officially introduced Friday morning. The Cardinals handed Fowler a five-year, $82.5 million contract and put their jersey on for the first time. Fowler will wear No. 25. Fowler’s deal includes a full no-trade clause.

Dexter Fowler will finish his career with the Cubs biggest rival. He will be remembered for what he helped the Cubs do after his playing days are over. And for that it must be said today … Thank you, Dex!
