Maddon Going with Cubs Right-Handed Heavy Lineup in Game 3 of The World Series

Game 3 of The World Series is tonight (7:08pm CDT). And Kyle Hendricks gets the ball in the first World Series game at Wrigley Field, opposing RHP Josh Tomlin.

maddon102816With Hendricks on the mound, Willson Contreras is starting behind the plate. Contreras is batting fifth behind Ben Zobrist.

Jorge Soler is starting in right field and batting sixth. Jason Heyward is not in the starting lineup for the fourth straight game.

Cubs batting order: Dexter Fowler CF, Kris Bryant 3B, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Ben Zobrist LF, Willson Contreras C, Jorge Soler RF, Javier Baez 2B, Addison Russell SS, Kyle Hendricks P

With the wind blowing straight out, Joe Maddon is using his right-handed heavy lineup against right-hander Josh Tomlin.

Tomlin is an extreme reverse splits guy and a fly ball pitcher. Tomlin gave up 36 home runs during the regular season in 174 innings.

Right-handers hit .299/.323/.522 with a .845 OPS against Tomlin in the regular season with 22 doubles, one triple and 22 home runs. Lefties batted .229/.247/.438 with a .685 OPS and 15 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs.

Joe Maddon will begin the game with David Ross, Miguel Montero, Chris Coghlan, Jason Heyward, Albert Almora Jr., and Kyle Schwarber on his bench.
