The Chicago Cubs are the National League Champions and are going to the World Series. That says it all. The Cubs will take on the Indians starting Tuesday in Cleveland.
It was three and half days that Cubs fans will never forget. After taking Game 5 at Dodger Stadium behind Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks had the best start of his career in Game 6 on Saturday night at Wrigley. The Cubs shutout the Dodgers and won the NLCS 4-2 to advance to the World Series.
Kyle Schwarber appears to be on his way back and could serve as the Cubs designated hitter and pinch-hitter in The Series.
And two of the Cubs’ best shared hardware after their tremendous performances in the NLCS.

The Cubs tied the NLCS at two games apiece with the win in Game 4 in Los Angeles. The offense woke up and tied the series when most were counting the Cubs down and out just a day earlier.
Anthony Rizzo broke out of his slump with Matt Szczur’s bat. And as it turned out, Szczur’s bat wasn’t the only thing that helped one of his teammates out of an offensive rut.
Carl Edwards Jr. had to leave Game 4 with two outs in the seventh with a hamstring injury. The Cubs said after the game that it didn’t appear to be anything more than a cramp. Edwards Jr. said he would be available for Game 5.

A Gem, A Blast, A Five-Run Eighth and a Cubs Win in Game 5 – Cubs 8, Dodgers 4
Behind an excellent start from Jon Lester, the Cubs won the pivotal fifth game of the NLCS. Lester delivered a gem. Addison Russell smacked a two-run homer that broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth. The Cubs scored five runs in the eighth with Javier Baez clearing the bases with a double.

Addison Russell Comes Up Clutch for the Cubs in Game 5
Addison Russell delivered in Game 5 and put the Cubs ahead for good with a two-run homer in the sixth inning off Joe Blanton. Three days after many wanted Joe Maddon to bench Russell, the Cubs 22-year old shortstop delivered the game winner with his second homer in as many games.

The Daily CCO: Cubs Have a Lead in the National League Championship Series
The Cubs went from 1-2 to 3-2 in the NLCS over the course of two games at Dodger Stadium. As it turns out, the Cubs can hit and they did over the last two games of the year in Los Angeles. Joe Maddon got his Meat Loaf for the flight back to Chicago and the Cubs were within one big win of a Pennant.

Willson Contreras made quite the impact in the NLDS and NLCS with both his bat and glove. Contreras drove in the winning run in Game 4 and was set to start Game 6 behind the plate for Kyle Hendricks.
Jesse Rogers talked to Greg Maddux about Kyle Hendricks … and the Hall of Famers comments were very interesting.
Bill Murray crashed a press briefing at the White House.

Kyle Schwarber, the AFL and Possible DH for World Series
The news surfaced Saturday just hours before Game 6 of the NLCS that Kyle Schwarber had been added to the roster of the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League.
The timing of the move meant only one thing, the Cubs were seeing if he could possibly be an option to DH if the team made it to the World Series.
The Cubs activated Schwarber from the 60-day DL. He played Saturday in Mesa while his teammates were taking care of business at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs admitted he is a possible option for the World Series roster. But they have to see how he responds.

The Cubs Win the Pennant! The Cubs Win the PENNANT! – Cubs 5, Dodgers 0
The Cubs jumped on Clayton Kershaw with two in the first and one more in the second before Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras played longball. Kris Bryant drove in Dexter Fowler with the first run. Ben Zobrist plated Bryant with a sac fly following a crucial error by the Dodgers left fielder. And Fowler gave the Cubs a three-run lead with a two-out single that drove in Addison Russell.
Joe Maddon received contributions from his entire lineup as the Cubs beat the Dodgers, won the NL Pennant and punched their ticket to the World Series.

Jon Lester, Javier Baez Named Co-MVPs of National League Championship Series
Jon Lester was effective in Game 1 and put his team in position to start the NLCS with a victory. It took a Miguel Montero pinch-hit slam to pull out Game 1. Lester pitched a gem at Dodger Stadium that gave the Cubs a 3-2 lead in the NLCS.
Javier Baez has become a star this postseason and he continued to play exceptionally well throughout the NLCS both at the plate and in the field.
Cubs World Series Schedule, Broadcast Information
Major League Baseball released the start times for the World Series.
FOX will broadcast the games and on the radio side, Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer, along with Len Kasper and Mark Grote, will have the call on 670 The Score.
The Cubs are Going to the World Series
The Chicago Cubs are the National League Champions and will face the Cleveland Indians in the World Series starting Tuesday.
