Game 4 of the National League Championship Series is tonight (7:08pm CDT) at Dodger Stadium. John Lackey takes the hill as the Cubs look to even the series against rookie left-hander Julio Urias. The Cubs trail two games to one and Joe Maddon has Willson Contreras starting behind the plate for the second time in the series.
Joe Maddon is running out his regular lineup for games John Lackey starts. Jason Heyward returns and is playing right field. Addison Russell is starting at short and batting eighth. And Ben Zobrist is in left field which gives the Cubs an outfield of Zobrist, Dexter Fowler and Heyward.
Cubs batting order: Dexter Fowler CF, Kris Bryant 3B, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Ben Zobrist LF, Javier Baez 2B, Willson Contreras C, Jason Heyward RF, Addison Russell SS, John Lackey P
Right-handers had a .725 OPS against Julio Urias in the big leagues this season. Sixteen extra basehits (14 doubles, two home runs) in 260 plate appearances with 24 walks and 60 strikeouts. Righties hit .284/.354/.371 against him. In less than a third of the plate appearances (76), left-handers hit .234/.333/.406 against Urias with a .740 OPS. Lefties had just five extra basehits (two doubles, three home runs) and seven walks with 24 strikeouts.
Julio Urias is the real deal and will not be overwhelmed by the situation. The Dodgers have a lead in the series. Urias will pitch that way and attacked Cubs’ hitters. The Cubs must jump on Urias early and rattle him. If he is allowed to settle in it will be another frustrating night for the Cubs.
Joe Maddon will begin the game with David Ross, Miguel Montero, Chris Coghlan, Albert Almora Jr. and Jorge Soler on the bench.
