Cubs top prospect OF Eloy Jimenez named to Baseball America’s 2016 Minor League All-Star Team
Baseball America announced its Minor League All-Star Teams for the 2016 season on Wednesday. Baseball America’s first and second team All-Stars reads as a who’s who list of the top prospects in the game. And Eloy Jimenez was named to Baseball America’s first team All-Stars in recognition of the outstanding season he had in the Midwest League with the South Bend Cubs.

Eloy Jimenez was the MVP in the Midwest League All-Star Game and almost stole the show in San Diego at the SiriusXM Radio All-Star Futures Game. Jimenez was named the Midwest League Most Valuable Player and Prospect of the Year.
Jimenez hit .329/.369/.532 with 40 doubles, three triples and 14 home runs for a .901 OPS. Jimenez finished the regular season with 142 hits, 25 walks, 230 total bases, 65 runs scored and 81 RBI.
Eloy Jimenez led the Midwest League in doubles (40), was second in total bases (230), had the fourth most home runs (14) and the second highest RBI (81) total. Jimenez led the league in slugging percentage (.532) by 50 points and OPS (.901) by 22 points.
