Cubs reinstate RHP Hector Rondon from 15-day DL … Recall OF Albert Almora Jr., RHP Spencer Patton, INF Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Iowa … Select Contract of C Tim Federowicz, Call-Up from Triple-A Iowa … RHP R.J. Alvarez designated for assignment

The Cubs announced a series of roster moves Tuesday afternoon.

The Cubs reinstated RHP Hector Rondon from the 15-day disabled list. Rondon was placed on the DL on August 19, retroactive to Aug. 17, with right triceps strain.

The Cubs recalled OF Albert Almora Jr., RHP Spencer Patton and INF Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Iowa. All three players are on the 40-man roster and were on optional assignments this season.

The Cubs selected the contract of catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Iowa, added him to the 40-man roster and to the active roster. Federowicz joined the Cubs on April 28 and was with the big league team until he was designated for assignment on June 17. Federowicz was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on June 27 and accepted the assignment.

In 13 games with the Cubs this season, Federowicz hit .192/.222/.269 with two doubles and a .491 OPS. Federowicz batted .293/.352/.450 with 12 doubles, eight home runs and a .802 OPS in 65 games with Iowa.

The Cubs designated RHP R.J. Alvarez for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Tim Federowicz.

With Tuesday’s roster moves, the Cubs 40-man roster stands at 40 players. The Cubs active roster consists of 34 players, 17 pitchers (six starters, 11 relievers) and 17 position players.

Hector Rondon, Albert Almora Jr., Spencer Patton, Munenori Kawasaki and Tim Federowicz are at Miller Park and available for Tuesday night’s game with the Brewers. Federowicz was issued No. 19.

Albert Almora Jr., 22, returns for his second stint with the Cubs after batting .265/.291/.422/.712 (22-for-83) with seven doubles, two homers and nine RBI in 34 games for the Cubs this year. He has seen time at all three outfield positions, playing 25 games (14 starts) in center field while making two starts in left field and one start in right field. With Iowa this season, Almora Jr. batted .303/.317/.416/.733 (97-for-320) with 18 doubles, three triples, four homers and 43 RBI in 80 games.

Munenori Kawasaki, 35, batted .255/.352/.312/.664 (80-for-314) with 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, 39 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 102 games with Iowa this season. He had two brief stints in the big leagues with the Cubs earlier this year, going 1-for-3 in three games.

R.J. Alvarez, 25, went 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (20 earned runs in 23 1/3 innings) and a 1.97 WHIP in 20 relief appearances with Double-A Tennessee this season. Alvarez was claimed off waivers from Oakland on June 12
