Cubs’ prospect Trevor Clifton had an excellent season with High-A Myrtle Beach in the Carolina League. Clifton was the organization’s pitcher of the month for May and August and was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Year in the Carolina League. Clifton added to his list of awards Monday when Baseball America named him its High Class-A Pitcher of the Year.
Trevor Clifton was also named to Baseball America’s High Class-A All-Star Team along with former teammate, SS Gleyber Torres.

Clifton was named Carolina League Pitcher of the Year and a postseason All-Star.
Trevor Clifton is one of several young pitchers in the Cubs system that project as a starting pitcher in the majors. Clifton should begin next season with Double-A Tennessee which will provide another challenge for him in his development. Clifton made steps forward this season as he learned how to pitch and not just throw a baseball.
