Addison Russell’s Fantastic, Unbelievable Sprawling Backhanded Catch

September 1, 2016 1:55 am By Neil Leave a Comment

Watch Addison Russell make an unbelievable game-saving catch in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s 6-5 win over the Pirates. The Cubs completed the sweep and improved to 85-47, a season-high 38 games over .500.

According to Daren Willman, Addison Russell covered 107 feet with a first step of 0.2 seconds and a top speed of 19.3 mph.

With the bases loaded and the Cubs leading by a 5-2 score at the time, if Russell doesn’t make that catch the result might have been different at the end of the night.

Kris Bryant said Russell’s catch was one of the best that he’s ever seen. And Addison Russell’s reaction is simply priceless.
