Updated 10:10pm CDT – Joe Maddon confirmed after Wednesday’s game that Pedro Strop hurt his left knee and will undergo an MRI on Thursday.
Updated Aug. 11, 12:40am CDT – David Schuster reported Pedro Strop left Wrigley on crutches.
Pedro Strop had to leave Wednesday’s game against the Angels after facing one batter in the eighth inning. Strop made a sliding stop of a slow roller up the third baseline off the bat of Yunel Escobar. Strop appeared to jam his left knee on the play.
Strop could not put any weight on his left leg and had to be helped off the field by Javier Baez and one the Cubs’ trainers.
The Cubs have not announced the type or severity of the injury Pedro Strop suffered.
With Hector Rondon dealing with right triceps injury, the Cubs will likely have to recall Justin Grimm from Triple-A Iowa before Thursday’s opener against the Cardinals.
