August 22, 2016 4:35 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

The Cubs open a three-game series in San Diego tonight (9:10pm CDT) against the Padres. Jon Lester is facing is former teammate, RHP Edwin Jackson in game one.

Heyward082216Joe Maddon posted his lineup and as expected Jason Heyward is back in right field and hitting sixth after receiving a four-game break.

Maddon is going with an outfield of Kris Bryant (LF), Dexter Fowler (CF) and Heyward. Javier Baez is playing third base and batting seventh in front of David Ross.

Cubs batting order: Dexter Fowler CF, Kris Bryant LF, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Ben Zobrist 2B, Addison Russell SS, Jason Heyward RF, Javier Baez 3B, David Ross C, Jon Lester P

After a rough weekend in the field, Maddon is running out his best defensive team with Lester on the hill.

The Cubs are hoping that Heyward was able to hit the reset button during his four-game breather. Jason Heyward is 5-for-20 with a double, a home run and four walks in his career against Edwin Jackson.

Maddon will begin the game with a bench of Willson Contreras, Miguel Montero, Matt Szczur and Jorge Soler. The Cubs have not provided an update on Soler’s sore leg. He is expected to be available off the bench tonight.
