The Cubs play the final game of the regular season against the Dodgers this afternoon (3:10pm CDT). Rookie right-hander Brock Stewart makes his third big league start for the Dodgers. Jon Lester is on the bump for Joe Maddon. With Lester getting the ball, David Ross is behind the plate.
David Ross catching Jon Lester is to be expected. The Cubs timed up the Lester start today to correspond with the final game of the regular season at Dodger Stadium. Ross will be able to start the last game of his career against the organization that drafted him in 1998 and he broke in with four years later (2002).
Along with Ross and Lester, Joe Maddon is running out his best defensive lineup with Javier Baez at third base, Addison Russell at short, Jason Heyward in right and Kris Bryant in left.
Cubs batting order: Dexter Fowler CF, Kris Bryant LF, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Ben Zobrist 2B, Addison Russell SS, Jason Heyward RF, Javier Baez 3B, David Ross C, Jon Lester P
