Updated 2:57pm CDT – According to reports from Buster Olney and Joel Sherman, the Cubs have acquired RHP Joe Smith from the Angels. It is unknown at this point which players the Cubs sent to the Angels in this deal.

Cubs reportedly discussing a deal with Angels for RHP Joe Smith
According to a report from Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs are exploring a number of possibilities. And one of the options is veteran right-handed reliever Joe Smith of the Angels.
The Angels are talking to at least two other teams about Joe Smith according to Rosenthal.
Joe Smith is 1-4 in 38 games this season with a 3.82 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 4.62 FIP. In 37 2/3 innings, Smith has allowed 16 runs, all earned, on 36 hits with 13 walks and 25 strikeouts.
Smith has held right-handers to a .661 OPS this season, just two extra base hits (one double and one home run). Righties are hitting .267/.341/.320 against him.
Left-handers have a .738 OPS with a .246/.338/.400 slash line. Only four extra basehits (one double and three home runs) by lefties off Smith this season.
