Jorge Soler returned Friday to the Cubs lineup after spending two months on the DL. Soler batted sixth for Joe Maddon was the team’s DH in his first big league game since June 6. And Soler reminded everyone in his first at-bat what he’s capable of at the plate.
With the Cubs leading 1-0, two on and two down, Jorge Soler smoked a 1-1 pitch from lefty Dillon Overton over the wall in left. Soler hit a rocket line drive that got out of the park in a hurry.
Georgie ended up going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI on the night.
And it’s safe to stay, Soler delivered the big hit in a game the Cubs won by five runs, 7-2.
Jorge Soler is expected to be in the lineup Sunday with the lefty Sean Manaea on the hill for the Athletics. Reports suggested Joe Maddon may use a different player as his DH on Saturday with Sonny Gray starting for the A’s.
