Eloy Jimenez turned in a ridiculous, MVP-type performance at the plate and in the field at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
Jimenez did not start Sunday. Jimenez entered the game in the fourth inning, playing right field and batted cleanup for the World Team. And a strong argument could be made that he was the Most Valuable Player in the game and not the Red Sox’s Yoan Moncada.
Jimenez was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Jimenez ripped a double into the left field corner in his first at-bat in the sixth. Jimenez put the World Team on the board with the RBI double, broke up the shutout and scored the second run of the game on a double by Josh Naylor.
Jimenez made an incredible catch in the field in between driving in runs.
Eloy Jimenez stepped to the plate with two on in the ninth and obliterated the baseball.
The ball hit off the third-deck patio of the Western Supply Building. Jimenez turned on 95 mph heat like it was nothing flashing incredible bat speed.
What an impressive performance, and he smiled the entire time.
The World Team won the game 11-3 after scoring 11 unanswered runs, the first off the bat of Eloy Jimenez.
Eloy Jimenez shined on the biggest stage he’s played on among the top talent in the game … and he’s only 19 years old.
