June 16, 2016 6:15 am By Neil Leave a Comment

Willson Contreras just keeps on hitting and getting on base. Contreras extended his hitting streak to 20 games in Iowa’s 6-5 win in Colorado Springs on Wednesday afternoon.

Contreras finished the game 1-for-5 with a RBI. Contreras singled in John Andreoli in the first inning to extend the streak. Unlike some hitting streaks where a player will get one hit, Contreras is 16-for-37 in his last 10 games with five walks and six strikeouts.

Willson Contreras is batting .432/.523/.703 with five doubles, a triple and a home run for a 1.225 OPS this month.

In 54 games this season, Willson Contreras is hitting .350/.439/.591 with 16 doubles, three triples and nine home runs for a 1.030 OPS. Contreras has 28 walks and 32 strikeouts in 203 at bats with 120 total bases and 43 RBI.

Willson Contreras has reached base safely either with a hit or a walk in 51 of the 54 games he’s played in this season.

According to Iowa’s game notes, Contreras holds the longest active hitting streak in the Pacific Coast League. Contreras ranks fifth in the PCL in batting average (.350), third in on-base percentage (.439), fifth in slugging (.591) and fourth in OPS (1.030).
