Jon Lester, LHP (5-3, 2.48/1.10/3.34) vs. Mike Bolsinger, RHP (1-1, 4.50/1.30/5.01)
The Cubs will look to get back on track tonight behind Jon Lester.
Joe Maddon’s team has shown the ability to put bad games behind them quickly and not let poor performances carryover. The Cubs had one of those games Tuesday in which just about the entire team looked off. There is little doubt the Cubs will be ready to go tonight.
With Jon Lester on the hill, David Ross will be behind the plate tonight. Maddon has been using Javier Baez at third base and Kris Bryant in left field when Lester starts. Maddon is expected to have Baez in the lineup and tonight would be a good time to get Ben Zobrist a breather and Tommy La Stella a start.
Lefties have hit .301/.374/.450 with a .824 OPS against Mike Bolsinger in the big leagues while right-handers have managed a .246/.300/.418 line with a .718 OPS in 33 games, 32 starts.
Alex Wood and Scott Kazmir executed the game plan against the Cubs offense. It’s time for the Cubs to adjust and make Bolsinger work early. With the question marks the Dodgers have for a starting pitcher for Thursday afternoon, the earlier the Cubs get into Dave Roberts’ bullpen tonight could have an impact on the remainder of the series.
