Cubs prospect 2B/OF Ian Happ notches back-to-back three-hit games, includes first home run with Double-A Tennessee
The Cubs promoted one of the organization’s top prospects, 2B/OF Ian Happ on Thursday. Happ picked up with Double-A Tennessee where he left off with High-A Myrtle Beach. Happ walked in his first plate appearance with the Smokies and hasn’t stopped hitting since.
Ian Happ has eight hits in 12 at bats in four games for Double-A Tennessee.
Happ was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI on Saturday in the Smokies’ 6-4 loss to the Blue Wahoos. Happ connected in the third inning off right-hander Rookie Davis and smacked a two-run opposite field homer.
Happ went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI in the Smokies’ 3-0 victory over the Blue Wahoos on Sunday. Happ hit third and played second base for Mark Johnson.
Ian Happ has multi-hit games in each of the three starts he’s made for Double-A Tennessee. Happ is 8-for-12 with two doubles and a home run. Happ has scored four runs and has 13 totals bases in 13 plate appearances.
Counting his final five games with High-A Myrtle Beach, Happ has an eight-game hitting streak. And in his last 10 games, Happ is 18-for-33 with seven doubles and two home runs.
Ian Happ has put together a very good first full season in professional baseball.
