Ricketts Family Purchased Tenth Wrigley Rooftop

April 26, 2016 1:00 pm By Neil 1 Comment

Ricketts family purchased 10th Wrigley rooftop at 1044 W. Waveland Ave.

WrigleyRooftopsLogoPrior to Opening Night at Wrigley Field, multiple reports surfaced that the Ricketts family purchased a 10th rooftop building, the Brixen Ivy rooftop located at 1044 W. Waveland Ave.

Family spokesman, Dennis Culloton did not verify the purchase but according to reports from the Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business, the Ricketts family now owns 10 of the 16 rooftop buildings outside of Wrigley Field and has “a financial stake in an 11th” rooftop business, Down the Line Rooftop at 3621 N. Sheffield Ave. Danny Ecker reported the family is “suing the majority owner for the right to buy that building in full.”

According to the Tribune, Mark Schlenker, owner of the Brixen Ivy rooftop business and building at 1044 W. Waveland Ave., sold the property on March 31 “to an entity controlled by the Ricketts family for $2.65 million.” Schlenker confirmed the sale to the Tribune.

Danny Ecker reported the Ricketts family has paid $21.7 million for seven rooftop buildings since January 2015, plus undisclosed amounts for the other three properties.

According to the report from Crain’s Chicago Business, the Brixen Ivy rooftop “will be folded into the WrigleyRooftops.com, a site that showcases all the rooftop businesses controlled by the Ricketts family.” The rooftop has yet to be added to the site.

The Ricketts family owns the following rooftops: 1048 W. Waveland, 1038 W. Waveland, 1032 W. Waveland, 1010 W. Waveland, 3643 N. Sheffield, 3639 N. Sheffield, 3637 N. Sheffield, 3619 N. Sheffield and 3617 N. Sheffield

Sports Corner rooftop at 3609 N. Sheffield is not owned by the family, but tickets to the rooftop can be purchased through the WrigleyRooftops.com website.

The five rooftops not under Ricketts family control include Murphy’s Bleachers, Lakeview Baseball Club and Skybox on Sheffield.
