Major League Baseball unveiled special events caps and jerseys Wednesday for the 2016 season.
For the first time, teams will wear caps and jerseys specially designed for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. MLB released images of the caps and jerseys teams will wear on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
And Major League Baseball decided to go retro with the All-Star Game jerseys and caps that are worn on workout day and during the Home Run Derby.
This year’s All-Star Game is in San Diego. Major League Baseball is paying homage to the brown and yellow jerseys the Padres wore from 1969-84.
According to Maury Brown, “MLB will again donate its licensed uniform royalties that are connected to charitable initiatives. Proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen (Mother’s Day), Prostate Cancer Foundation (Father’s Day), Stand Up to Cancer (Mother’s Day and Father’s Day), Welcome Back Veterans (Memorial Day and Independence Day) and the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services’ Support Our Troops Fund (Blue Jay’s Memorial Day Uniforms).”
