Kyle Schwarber Undergoes Successful Left Knee Surgery
According to multiple reports, Kyle Schwarber had knee surgery Tuesday in Dallas to reconstruct the ACL and repair the LCL in his left knee.
Dr. Daniel Cooper, Dallas Cowboys orthopedic specialist, performed the surgery. According to the Tribune, Dr. Cooper is the Cowboys’ head team physician and considered one of the top orthopedic knee surgeons.
The Cubs announced the surgery went well. Schwarber had surgery in Dallas, not Chicago as previously reported.
Kyle Schwarber is expected to make a full recovery. Reports before the procedure indicated the Cubs are looking for Schwarber to be ready for Spring Training.
Carrie Muskat reported Dr. Cooper “has been in touch with Cubs orthopedic specialist Dr. Stephen Gryzlo regarding the procedure.”
Updated 5:04pm CDT – According to a report from Mark Gonzales, Jed Hoyer said there “was no nerve damage discovered” during the surgery. The Cubs picked Dr. Daniel Cooper to perform the surgery because “they wanted the best in the world.”
