Kyle Schwarber out for the season with fully torn ACL and LCL
There are four ligaments in the knee and Schwarber tore two of them. Schwarber will undergo surgery to repair the two ligaments.
Kyle Schwarber also suffered a severe left ankle sprain. Schwarber would have missed at least four to six weeks with the ankle injury alone.
The Cubs have not given a timetable on a possible return other than Schwarber is out for the season. Surgery is planned but has not been scheduled. Surgery should take place within the next one-to-three weeks once the swelling and stiffness subsides.
Joe Maddon said Friday that Jorge Soler and Matt Szczur will see time in left field. Kris Bryant and Ben Zobrist are also options for left field that he will use.
