MRI on Kris Bryant’s right ankle confirmed mild sprain – Bryant could miss Braves series – Not expected to be placed on disabled list
Bryant is listed as day-to-day and is not expected to be placed on the disabled list according to multiple reports. The Cubs are sitting Bryant to make sure the injury does not linger. Bryant could miss the entire series.
Bryant rolled his right ankle running the bases in the third inning of Thursday’s game. Bryant left the game before the fifth inning to have his ankle evaluated by team doctors.
Javier Baez is starting at third base on Friday afternoon.

Joe Maddon will play with a short bench, likely for the next three days. Tommy La Stella, Matt Szczur and Tim Federowicz makeup Maddon’s bench. The Cubs have not said if Kris Bryant will be available to pinch-hit.
The Cubs will get their first look at rookie right-hander Aaron Blair on Friday afternoon. The Braves acquired Blair from the Diamondbacks along with Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson for Shelby Miller. Blair makes his second big league start this afternoon.
