Cubs Opening Day Lineup

Maddon031816-1It’s Opening Day. The Cubs kick off the 2016 season on Monday night (9:05pm) in Anaheim against the Angels. And Joe Maddon’s first lineup of the year has Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant in the fourth and fifth spots followed by Kyle Schwarber.

Cubs Opening Day Lineup: Dexter Fowler CF, Jason Heyward RF, Ben Zobrist 2B, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Kris Bryant 3B, Kyle Schwarber LF, Jorge Soler DH, Miguel Montero C and Addison Russell SS

Jake Arrieta makes his second career start on Opening Day, first with the Cubs. Arrieta was 13-1 in 18 starts with a 1.60 ERA and 0.87 WHIP outside of Wrigley Field last season.

The Cubs will face the best Mike Scioscia has in his starting staff in Garrett Richards.

Richards was 10-4 in 17 home starts last season with a 2.92 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Right-handers hit .247/.312/.395 with a .707 OPS against Richards last season while left-handers put together a .226/.299/.329 line with a .628 OPS.
