Happ042416Ian Happ had another big night at the plate. Happ hit his third home run in the Pelicans’ 6-5 victory over Carolina on Saturday night.

Hitting right-handed, Happ smacked a two-run homer to left field in the fifth and gave the Pelicans a 6-0 lead at the time. Happ’s longball ended up being the difference in the game. Carolina scored four times in the ninth inning. David Berg was charged with all four runs, two were earned.

Happ batted third and played second base. And finished the game 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI.

Ian Happ’s first two longballs were hit from the left-side.

Ian Happ is batting .317/.434/.556 after 17 games with a .990 OPS. Happ is 20-for-63 with four doubles, a triple and three home runs. Happ has 12 walks with 18 strikeouts and a team leading 35 total bases. Happ also leads the Pelicans in RBI (14).

Over his last eight games, Happ has hit safely in seven games while reaching base either by a hit or a walk in all eight games. Happ has three multiple hit games during that stretch and he’s reached base at least two times in six of the eight games.
